Evangelist ebenezer obey gives nine music students schorlaship
The music careers of about nine upcoming artistes would take a new good turn and even become successful, as they would be announce as the first set of the beneficiaries of the Ebenezer Obey Music Foundation (EOMF), scholarship awards.
The music students are the selected candidates from various tertiary institutions and they would be officially showcased today at the Music and Life Skill Centre, at km 4, Ayetoro, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The beneficiaries include two students from the music department of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State; a student from the Lagos State University, Ojoo, Lagos State; two students from The Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State; two students from the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta; one student from the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso and one student from the College of Education Monotechnic, Epe Lagos.
The founder and visioner of the foundation, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, would lead other members of the Board of Trustees of the foundation including the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the Olabisi Onobanjo University (OOU), Professor Saburi Adesanya; top government functionaries and stakeholders in the industry to make the event memorable.
According to the Miliki king, the scholarships are in three categories of N100,000; N75,000 and N50, 000 to each university, polytechnic and college of education music students respectively so as to aid them in their academic pursuit and professional excellence in music.
In order to actualise a standard music centre, as well as produce professional musicians, the foundation has also trained music teachers in a 2-day workshop.
Obey said: “It is my delight that the dream to give talented musicians, especially the younger generation has finally come to a reality. I thank God for giving me the grace in creating this platform. This event has set the ground running and we are not going back. I want to congratulate the shortlisted candidates and also advise them to make use of the opportunity judiciously.”
